I Think My Yard Is on Speed

We don’t fertilize our yard since it is just prairie grass but I would swear it is on speed. We mowed the three acres we have to mow on Friday and now on Tuesday it needs to be mowed again. Looks like we haven’t even touched it!  I just refuse to mow more often then once every two weeks though because that  is just too much work to do every week. I do the large areas with the riding lawnmower while my husband does all the push mower areas and it takes both of us about two hours to get it done. I can’t see doing that more than twice a month especially in the heat of summer.

Living on acreage has good points and bad points and having to mow that much is definitely one of the bad points.

dropped storylines

I hate it when movies edit for time and subplots endings wind up on the cutting room floor and they leave you wondering what the heck happened. Then new Pirates of the Caribbean movie has a major example of this. Now don’t worry, no spoilers here. This plot is a major part of the story line and it branches off into a subplot and they could have edited other things and left the end of this in or they could have edited it out sooner and it would have made more sense then the cliffhanger they leave you with which really sucks. I felt cheated out on the ending of the movie. They left me hanging going “wait, what about them?” It frustrates me when that happens.

Take the movie Alien. This was based on an extremely scary book of the same name and the movie followed the book pretty much verbatim until it came time to edit it.  For people like me that had read the book before seeing the movie, we were left going “what the heck!”  The scenes that were edited were put in the sequel Aliens and were put back in the director’s cut of Alien. It was the scenes that explained why the aliens were taking some of the people instead of killing them, that they were being cocooned and used for incubators. This is a major plot point that was left out.

What dropped subplot drove you crazy?

Happy Anniversary?

In a couple of days it will be Delaney’s World’s fourth anniversary and I find it somewhat bittersweet. I didn’t know for sure what I was doing when I started and where I was going with it. Delaney’s World has gone through many  forms over the years, some better than others.

At my highest point about a year ago I was a Google page rank of 3 and had between 800-1200 hits per day. Now I’m a 2 and I average about 500 hits a day. I know I shouldn’t complain about it because that is more than a lot of blogs get but for me it is half of what I had but is better than what I deserve.

I used to post 3-5 times a week, now I am lucky to do that in a month. I have seriously thought of shutting down the blog but a part of me can’t give it up. I am just not ready to call it quits. I keep thinking that things will pick up and I will be back on my game and be where I once was.

For now, Delaney’s World will hang in there and see what happens.
