Once in a Blue Moon is the newest novel by four time New York Bestseller List author, Eileen Goudge and released by Vanguard Press.

Product Description  (from Amazon.com website)

Lindsay and Kerrie Ann are sisters who have known hardship from an early age. Without guidance from their neglectful mother, their only aid came from an unlikely source, a retired exotic dancer by the name of Miss Honi Love. When the girls’ mother was sent to prison, Miss Honi tried unsuccessfully to save them from being separated and sent into foster care.

Thirty years later, Lindsay is still trying to reconnect with her sister. The owner of a bookstore in the sleepy California seaside town of Blue Moon Bay, she was lucky enough to have been adopted by a loving couple. Unbeknownst to her, Kerrie Ann has suffered a very different life. Bounced from one foster home to the next, she ran away as a teenager before becoming a drug-addicted single mother. Now, newly sober, Kerrie Ann is fighting to regain custody of the little girl who was taken from her.

Neither sister’s expectations are met when they’re finally reunited. But as the two sisters engage in the fiercest battles of their lives, they are at last drawn together despite their differences, restoring belief in the unshakable bond of family.

I read this novel while waiting in the airport and found myself having to arm wrestle with my husband who had picked it up while I was up walking around for awhile. Now this is a man that never reads a book and here he is reading the book and handing me the crossword puzzle book he was working on.

This is a captivating story that makes you want to turn the page to see what is going to happen next and I usually only find myself doing that when I read a suspense or mystery novel but Eileen Goudge makes you care about these women and you want everything to finally work out for them.

Now the good news:

One lucky winner will receive a copy of not only Once in a Blue Moon but they will also receive a copy of one of Eileen Goudge’s bestsellers Woman in Red.

Yep, you read it right you get a 2fer special!

From the reviews I’ve read of Once in a Blue Moon, it sounds like the author does a good job on the portrayals of the two sisters.

She’s an author based in New York City and her style of writing is similar to Jodi Picoult or LuAnne Rice.

What a great opportunity to get to know her books by winning not one but two. Thanks for the chance!

I learned that “Once In A Blue Moon” is about two sisters that were separated when their mother was sent to prison. One of them was lucky enough to be adopted by a loving family and lived a fairly pleasant life. The other sister, as a result of not having a stable home, found herself as a single mother and addicted to drugs.
