Yes I did!
There is a tattoo shop in Andover, KS where my son lives that is a two man operation. King Pete’s is owned by Pete, the only non tattooed tattoo artist I have ever met and a young guy named Nolan who has been tattooing for about three years now.
Nolan tattooed my husband a couple of years ago and seemed very likeable and talented so when I decided I had a couple of tattoos I really wanted done I went to see him.
I have a tattoo already on my left wrist that is about my daughter and you can see it in the pictures of me knitting. I have always wanted a dream catcher on my other arm that is a representation of my Native American heritage and my son who is sort of my dream catcher in life. He is always there for me when I need him. He supports me in anything I do and I love him to death. He is my only son and my baby.
Here is my new tattoo:
Hubby doesn’t see the “J” for our son’s name nor does he see the heart – do you?
If you don’t, here is where to look:
and the heart:
I think that Nolan did a great job and got exactly what I wanted. Now it is still healing up so it still looks a bit rough. I have to admit that Nolan is one of the gentlest tattoo artists I have had so far. Not a bad experience at all and I could hardly feel him working which is high praise in my book. Being artistic as well as having a gentle touch with the needles makes me want to come back and I plan on it the first of October. Yes, I am getting another tattoo done after Jamaica and it will be another bigger one on the other side of my shoulder/back to balance out my Geisha. I look forward to seeing what Nolan comes up with for the different styles I showed him that I love. Should be interesting and I look forward to my next tattoo.

Actually there is another J at the bottom between the red and blue dots. It’s lovely – I wish I had your courage – I want one and what I want is so small and so simple and I just can’t bring myself to do it – plus DS gave me a horrid look when I mentioned it to him. Yikes. You rock girlfriend!

I would love to see you get a tat! I think you would be surprised at how little discomfort is involved in tattoos depending on where you put it and who does it.
Hubby was surprised when he came home and I had this one but I have wanted this for over a year so it really shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone in the family.

For just having been done, that really doesn’t look too red or swollen at all. I saw the heart right away but I’m glad you pointed out the J. Really cool!

How it looks healing is a testament to Nolan’s gentle touch. I have had practically no swelling, just a bit of redness and barely any scabbing. Nolan rocks!

I also couldn’t see the “J” til you pointed it out. Very cool tattoo. I love dream catchers.

I wanted it to be subtle and not overly blatant and to look more like a regular dream catcher. I think he did a great job.

Wonderful, well thought-out tat. I have thought long and hard about getting one but lately other things have gotten in the way. Maybe someday I will get courageous enough to take the leap.

I like tattoos that mean something to me and don’t jump out and scream at you. Just be warned, tattoos are very, very addicting. If I wasn’t so old that my choices of placement are dwindling, I would probably be covered in art.

Good eye! most people haven’t seen it but that’s okay, the symbols are for me anyway.

Oh this is so beautiful, D! Jerry is a tattoo guy, and when I was younger, I always thought I would get one. I guess I’m too scared of the pain (and the permanence) of getting a tattoo…but that dream catcher sure does look good!!!

That is a wonderful tattoo.
Were you comfortable with the level of sterilization they used? Did they use new needles with you each and every time?
Have you had any more tattoos and how does this one look now, several months later?
I’m thinking about a little capricorn goat tattoed on my leg. I’m a 64 year old woman, never had a tattoo before. I want this one to memorialize a friend.
Do you still recommend this place?

I was comfortable with everything in the shop and with the artist and it is a licensed shop. I would get one again in a heartbeat and my tat looks fantastic![
